Resumen

Este trabajo reúne las claves que permitieron al Ayuntamiento de La Orotava, en el tránsito a la II República, encauzar algunos elementos de la política sanitaria del municipio, encarnada en la persona del Dr. Feliciano Jerez. Al mismo tiempo, desarrolla las relaciones entre la ideología y la política, con las consiguientes consecuencias derivadas del estallido de la Guerra Civil Española y la pérdida de intelectuales de valía, empujados al exilio, que la Ley de Memoria Histórica y las iniciativas individuales y colectivas han tratado de reconocer. Las vivencias de nuestras islas volvieron a estar más cerca a través de la labor de este médico en la revista Canarias en Cuba (La Habana, 1946).

This work brings together the keys that got to Hall City of La Orotava, in the transition to Second Republic, to register some elements of the health policy in the municipality, incarnated in the person of Dr. Feliciano Jerez. At the same time, it develops the relationships between ideology and policy, with the resulting consequences of the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War and the loss of intellectual worth, driven into exile that the Law of Historical Memory and the individual and collective initiatives have tried to recognize.
