La ponencia estudia el papel de la expansión ultramarina en la consolidación del Estado y el papel del monarca en este proceso. Toma como ejemplo el caso de Canarias durante su etapa formativa (S. XIV-XVI), analizando su incorporación a la corona de Castilla, su estatuto administrativo dentro de la misma y la aplicación de instrumentos de cohesión política.
This paper analyses the role of the Atlantic expansion in the consolidation of the State, as well as the function of the monarch in this process. The case of the Canary Islands during its formative phase (14th-16th Centuries) will be taken as an example. I will address the incorporation of the Canaries to the Crown of Castille, its administrative statute and the application of instruments for its political cohesion.
