Resumen
En nuestra comunicación, partiremos de la influencia que ha ejercido el medio geográfico en la evolución histórica de Canarias: Un archipiélago situado en el Océano Atlántico, en el oeste de África, con una historia condicionada y dependiente siempre del exterior, para su supervivencia. A través de la Historia, nuestras islas se relacionan en primer lugar, con la vecina África, en cuanto a su poblamiento y a la presencia de la vieja Europa, que conquista y coloniza las islas y por último su participación activa en la conquista y colonización de América. Se realizará desde la óptica y métodos de la Geopolítica y la Geoestrategía, aplicadas a la realidad concreta con unas fronteras marinas definidas de un archipiélago africano, Canarias, en el marco histórico de un determinado y delimitado periodo: la expansión colonial de Europa en los siglos XIX y XX, hasta los comienzos del nuevo siglo (1905).
In our communication, we will start from the influence that the geographical environment has had on the historical evolution of the Canary Islands: An archipelago located in the Atlantic Ocean, in West Africa, with a history conditioned and always dependent on the outside, for its survival. Through history, our islands are related in the first place, with neighboring Africa, in terms of their settlement and the presence of old Europe, which conquers and colonizes the islands and finally its active participation in the conquest and colonization of America. It will be carried out from the perspective and methods of Geopolitics and Geostrategy, applied to the concrete reality with defined marine borders of an African archipelago, the Canary Islands, in the historical framework of a specific and delimited period: the colonial expansion of Europe in the 19th and 20th centuries, until the beginning of the new century (1905).
