Este trabajo aborda las profundas transformaciones acaecidas en Cuba durante la época dorada de la trata esclavista y la economía de plantación. La restauración de la constitución de 1812 originó una aguda confrontación por el control del poder socio-política entre las capas dirigentes criollas que querían imponer su hegemonía y su modelo político y económico y las capas medias y mercantiles que querían limitar su implantación.

This work addresses the profound transformations that occurred in Cuba during the golden age of the slave trade and the plantation economy. The restoration of the 1812 constitution originated an acute confrontation for the control of socio-political power between the Creole ruling layers that wanted to impose their hegemony and their political and economic model and the middle and mercantile layers that wanted to limit its implantation.
