Resumen
La Constitución de Cádiz de 1812 modificó el régimen municipal único implantado en las islas Canarias a raíz de la conquista e incorporación a la Corona de Castilla, sustituyéndolo por otro en el que las antiguas jurisdicciones independientes de los campos o del interior se convierten en ayuntamientos constitucionales en pie de igualdad con los capitalinos. La principal tarea a la que habrán de enfrentarse es a adquirir poder económico y fiscal para dar sentido al poder político que les confería la Constitución.
The Constitution of Cádiz of 1812 modified the single municipal system implemented in the Canary Islands as a result of the conquest and incorporation into the Crown of Castile, replacing it with another in which the old independent jurisdictions of the fields or of the interior become constitutional city councils on an equal footing with the capitals. The main task they will have to face is to acquire economic and fiscal power to give meaning to the political power conferred on them by the Constitution.
