Amurga, el santuario perdido de Tirajana / Amurga, the lost sanctuary of Tirajana

Resumen

En esta comunicación hacemos un resumen de un extenso trabajo de investigación que venimos realizando desde 2010, con el objetivo de justificar la hipótesis de que Montaña de Las Tabaibas y parte de Amurga eran la montaña sagrada y el santuario de Tirajana que nos transmitieron los cronistas. Incidiremos aquí en las descripciones que sobre los montes sagrados realizan las fuentes etnohistóricas, la situación geográfica de la Tirajana de los conquistadores, los restos arqueológicos que existen en el territorio en relación con las fuentes y un estudio lingüístico en el que vinculamos los nombres de la montaña sagrada con dos topónimos de la comarca, el propio Amurga y Amoxo.

In this paper we summarize an extensive research work that we have been carrying out since 2010, with the aim of justifying the hypothesis that Montaña de Las Tabaibas and part of Amurga were the sacred mountain and the Tirajana sanctuary that the chroniclers transmitted to us. We will focus here on the descriptions that the ethnohistoric sources make of the sacred mountains, the geographical location of Tirajana at that times, the archaeological remains that exist in the territory in relation to the sources and a linguistic study in which we link the names of the Sacred mountain with two place names of the locality, the own Amurga and Amoxo.
