Resumen
La Guerra Civil española (1936–1939) comienza con el golpe de Estado de un parte del ejército contra el régimen democrático de la República. Siendo un conflicto nacional pronto cuenta con repercusiones internacionales enfrentando a las ideologías totalitarias del fascismo–nazismo y el comunismo. La guerra sirvió de inspiración a toda una generación de intelectuales y artistas en el que el arte estuvo a disposición de los bandos beligerantes. Los rebeldes, autodenominados Nacionales, y los Republicanos contaron con artistas canarios para la actividad propagandista. Juan Ismael con los Insurrectos y José Arencibia Gil, Santiago Santana y Antonio Mesa Marrero «Mesita» con la República, todos ellos motivo de nuestro estudio. Este arte de propaganda desplegado por los citados artistas es el objetivo del presente trabajo con las características, influencias y temáticas desarrolladas durante el conflicto civil. Por otro lado, estudio las características simbólicas de los aliados de los respectivos bandos en conflicto; la Italia fascista, la Alemania nazi y la Unión Soviética stalinista.
The Spanish Civil War (1936–1939) begins with the coup d’état by part of the army against the democratic regime of the Republic. Being a national conflict, it soon has international repercussions, confronting the totalitarian ideologies of fascism-Nazism and communism. The war served as an inspiration to a whole generation of intellectuals and artists in which art was made available to belligerent sides. The rebels, self-proclaimed Nationals, and the Republicans had Canarian artists for propaganda activity. Juan Ismael with the Insurgents and José Arencibia Gil, Santiago Santana and Antonio Mesa Marrero «Mesita» with the Republic, all of them the reason for our study. This propaganda art displayed by the aforementioned artists is the objective of this work with the characteristics, influences and themes developed during the civil conflict. On the other hand, I study the symbolic characteristics of the allies of the respective sides in conflict; Fascist Italy, Nazi Germany, and the Stalinist Soviet Union.
