El patrimonio cultural y natural subacuático de Santiago de Cuba / The Submerged Cultural and Natural Heritage of the Santiago de Cuba

Resumen

En el presente trabajo trato de mostrar el Patrimonio Cultural y Natural Sumergido que ostenta la provincia Santiago de Cuba, Cuba. Sin duda tiene una importancia cultural, natural e histórica cómo muestra del Patrimonio de la Nación, donde los especialistas de actividades arqueológicas subacuáticas intentan proteger y conservar este patrimonio, así como su divulgación, tras haber ratificado Cuba la Convención sobre la Protección del Patrimonio Cultural Subacuático en 2008. Se realiza una breve historia de la aparición de la arqueología subacuática en Cuba y de forma cronológica se explica el desarrollo de esta disciplina. Se exteriorizan los momentos importantes en el desarrollo de las acciones subacuáticas en los sitios arqueológicos en el litoral santiaguero. Todos estos trabajos emprendidos permitieron la realización del expediente de declaratoria como monumento nacional al Parque Arqueológico Subacuático «Batalla Naval 1898» y el libro Una Inmersión en la Historia.

This work aims to show the Submerged Cultural and Natural Heritage of the Santiago de Cuba province, Cuba. It have cultural a natural and historical importance as a sample of the National Heritage, where the work of specialists in underwater archaeological activities to protect and conserve this heritage, as well as its dissemination after Cuba has ratified the Convention on the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage in 2008.A brief history of the appearance of underwater archeology in Cuba is made and the development of this discipline. Besides, the important moments in the development of underwater actions in the archaeological sites on the coast of Santiago. All these works undertaken in the archaeological sites allowed the realization of the declaration file as a national monument to the Underwater Archaeological Park «Naval Battle 1898» and the book «An Immersion in History».
