Las personas no llegadas en la travesía de la migración irregular hacia Canarias durante la pandemia (2020-21) / Non-Arrived Persons in the Journey of Irregular Migration to the Canary Islands during Pandemic (2020-21)
Resumen
En el contexto de los flujos migratorios irregulares que han llegado a Canarias por vía marítima entre 2020 y 2021, el presente trabajo pretende estudiar uno de los aspectos más dramáticos que caracteriza a esta movilidad, la de los naufragios de embarcaciones y, consecuentemente, los decesos y desaparecidos que se producen. La denominada «Ruta Canaria» es una de las vías marítimas más peligrosas del Mundo debido a las condiciones marítimas, las distancias que se deben salvar para llegar al archipiélago y las condiciones en las que se mueven los migrantes. Los objetivos que se plantean en este trabajo son: 1) mostrar cartográficamente la distribución territorial de los naufragios de embarcaciones con migrantes irregulares a bordo y ofrecer una síntesis de datos sobre desaparecidos y decesos; 2) representar la temporalidad de los naufragios, 3) caracterizar quiénes son los afectados y 4) ahondar en las causas de todo tipo de naufragios, desaparecidos y decesos. Para el estudio se recopilará información de distintas fuentes nacionales e internacionales, como los registros oficiales, la información contrastada que proporcionan algunas ONG y la OIM y los reportes que se publican en prensa.
In the context of the irregular migratory flows that have arrived in the Canary Islands by sea between 2020 and 2021, this paper aims to study one of the most dramatic aspects that characterizes this mobility, that of shipwrecks and, consequently, the deaths and disappearances that occur. The so-called «Canarian Route” is one of the most dangerous sea routes in the world due to maritime conditions, the distances that must be covered to reach the archipelago and the conditions in which migrants move. The objectives set forth in this work are: 1) to cartographically show the territorial distribution of the shipwrecks of vessels with irregular migrants on board and offer a synthesis of data on disappearances and deaths; 2) represent the temporality of shipwrecks, 3) characterize who are affected and 4) delve into the causes of all types of shipwrecks, disappearances and deaths. For the study, information will be collected from different national and international sources, such as official records, verified information provided by some NGOs and the IOM, and reports published in the press.
