La riqueza agraria y ganadera de Adeje a mediados del siglo XIX / The Agricultural and Livestock Wealth of Adeje in the Mid XIX Century

Resumen

La legislación liberal y la introducción de un nuevo cultivo de exportación provocarán cambios en la estructura de propiedad de la tierra, pero parece evidente que el modelo agrario tradicional, aunque con ajustes, pervivirá durante largo tiempo. Adeje, tierra de señorío hasta el siglo XIX, representa un espacio idóneo para conocer cómo se llevó a cabo la transformación. De ahí, que con esta comunicación pretendamos acercarnos a la situación agraria y ganadera de Adeje a mediados de la centuria decimonónica, y a cómo los recursos hídricos existentes influían en los niveles de producción, sin olvidar los factores que pudieran acentuar la vulnerabilidad del sector y, por tanto, hipotecar la generación de riqueza en la jurisdicción.

Liberal legislation and the introduction of a new export crop will cause changes in the structure of land ownership, but it seems clear that the traditional agrarian model, albeit with adjustments, will survive for a long time. Adeje, a land of lordship until the XIX th century, represents an ideal space to find out how the transformation took place. Hence, with this communication we intend to approach the agricultural and livestock situation of Adeje in the mid-nineteenth century, and how the existing water resources influenced production levels, without forgetting the factors that could accentuate the vulnerability of the sector and, therefore, mortgage the generation of wealth in the jurisdiction.
