Resumen

Esta comunicación escrita para el 25 Coloquio de Historia Canario Americana, Canarias y el Atlántico el Estado de la Cuestión, pretende entre otras cuestiones, dilucidar el empoderamiento que tiene en Mesoamérica la virgen de Los Remedios, venerada en La Laguna (Tenerife) y otros sitios de Canarias y España y de qué manera su viaje a través de la ruta Atlántica la colocara definitivamente y con enorme influencia en santuarios milenarios indígenas que permiten el paso a esta nueva forma de adoración a una deidad católica. Así, la encontramos en los códices y los documentos de los cronistas, en Tenochtitlan, y en Cholula, dos sitios emblemáticos para la población indígena de origen y cómo a partir de ahí continuara su periplo imparable, hasta convertirse en la «Generala» del ejército español durante el proceso independentista mexicano.

This writing this communication written for the 25th Colloquium on American Canary Island History, the Canary Islands and the Atlantic the State of the Matter, aims, among other things, to elucidate the empowerment that the Virgin of Los Remedios has in Mesoamerica, venerated in the Laguna de Tenerife and other places of the Canary Islands and Spain and how its journey through the Atlantic route will place it definitively and with enormous influence in ancient indigenous sanctuaries that allow the passage to this new form of worship of a Catholic deity.
