Estado de la cuestión de los estudios de Historia Social en Canarias / State of the Question of Social History Studies in the Canary Islands

Las aportaciones de las investigaciones en Historia Social en Canarias han sido desiguales. Muchas de ellas, aunque abordan temas sociales, no han cumplido exactamente con el concepto de Historia Social. Sin embargo, otras han hecho un esfuerzo por incorporarse a las últimas tendencias de modernidad y a las principales escuelas historiográficas de los siglos XIX y XX. En este artículo hacemos un recorrido por esta historiografía, destacando el papel que los Coloquios de Historia Canario Americana han tenido en su desarrollo.

The contributions of research in Social History in the Canary Islands have been uneven. Many of them, although they address social issues, have not exactly complied with the concept of Social History. However, others have made an effort to join the latest trends in modernity and the main historiographical schools of the 19th and 20th centuries. In this article we take a tour of this historiography, highlighting the role that the American Canarian History Colloquiums have had in its development.
