Resumen

Con la llegada del franquismo y el estallido de la Segunda Guerra Mundial (1939-1945) se activó el protagonismo de la comunidad alemana Canarias, que aumentaba su tamaño y reafirmaba su influencia en el archipiélago. A pesar de que una parte de la comunidad afianzó su vínculo con la sociedad canaria sin desplegar esfuerzos bélicos ni compartir los ideales del nacionalsocialismo, tanto el Tercer Reich como la guerra internacional estuvieron presentes en las islas a través de una imponente red sociocultural y político-administrativa. El principal objetivo de esta comunicación es realizar una primera aproximación a la comunidad alemana existente en Canarias durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial a través de fuentes primarias inéditas.

The establishment of Francoism and the outbreak of the Second World War (1939-1945) activated the role of the German community on the islands, which increased its size and reaffirmed its influence. Even though a part of the German community strengthened its bond with the Canarian society without deploying war efforts or sharing the ideals of National Socialism, both the Third Reich and the international war were present in the islands through an imposing socio-cultural and political network. The objective of this communication is to make a first approximation to the German community in the Canary Islands during the Second World War through unpublished sources.
