Resumen

Durante la evolución de la especie, la muerte ha sido motivo de interés para las diferentes culturas humanas. En el ámbito de Canarias se recogen particularidades referentes a la muerte y, más concretamente, con el culto a las ánimas, de gran tradición y arraigo popular. En este contexto, destaca la figura del «animero» o «mediador de almas» como sujeto de gran valor en el ámbito rural cuyo oficio se desarrolló hasta finales del siglo XX.

During the evolution of the species, death in has been a matter of interest for different human cultures. In the Canary Islands, particularities referring to death are collected and, more specifically, with the cult of the souls, of great tradition and popular roots. In this context, the figure of the «animero» or «mediator of souls» stands out as a subject of great value in the rural area whose trade was developed until the end of the 20th century.
