Resumen
La filigrana es un elemento que va unido a la fabricación del papel y es utilizado para indicar el origen y la calidad del mismo. En general, hace referencia a la ciudad y el molino papelero donde se ha elaborado el papel. Este elemento sirve para datar los documentos y muchas veces, no suele observarse directamente. Tradicionalmente, se han aplicado diferentes métodos para obtener una imagen clara de la filigrana. Estos métodos pueden ser manuales como dibujos a mano mediante frotado, pero también más sofisticados como las técnicas de fosforescencia o la radiografía beta. La revisión de estos métodos permite establecer las ventajas y desventajas de su uso y proponer una alternativa low- cost mediante el uso de la fotografía infrarroja transmitida (IRT), que proporciona el registro sin dañar el soporte de papel y la lectura de las formas sin interferencia de elementos sustentados como son las tintas metaloácidas.
The watermark is an element that is linked to the manufacture of paper and is used to indicate the origin and quality of the paper. In general, it refers to the town and the paper mill where the paper was made. This element is used to date documents and is often not directly observable. Traditionally, different methods have been applied to obtain a clear image of the watermark. These methods can be manual, such as hand drawings by rubbing, but also more sophisticated methods such as phosphorescence techniques or beta radiography. The review of these methods allows us to establish the advantages and disadvantages of their use and to propose a lowcost alternative through the use of transmitted infrared photography (TIP), which provides the recording without damaging the paper support and the reading of the forms without interference from iron-gall inks.
