SIRES, Sistema Informático de Relacio-nes Entre Sujetos es una aplicación informática complementaria a los estudios históricos, concretamente para los estudios de las redes sociales. Ha sido diseñada con la finalidad de poder tratar indistintamente diferentes aspectos, tanto los extrínsecos —documentos— como intrínsecos —sujetos a estudiar—. Descifrar las relaciones entre sujetos históricos en base a características de distinta índole puede suponer un esfuerzo arduo y lleno de dificultades para realizar la labor investigadora. He aquí que SIRES permite no sólo organizar la documentación, sino también entrecruzar documentos, personas y textos e individuos. Esta es una de sus principales cualidades, esbozar relaciones y redes entre terceros en “plano horizontal”.
