En esta ponencia se hace un recuento sobre la vida del palmero José Esteban Guerra Zerpa, el cual fue tipógrafo y fundador del periódico Diario de Avisos en su isla natal, donde también se incorporó a la masonería; además, se analiza su evolución hacia posiciones nacionalistas e independentistas a partir de su relación en Venezuela con Secundino Delgado, determinándose su actuación en la revista caraqueña El Guanche. Por último se establece su presencia en Cuba y su protagonismo en la fundación allí del Partido Nacionalista Canario y de la Revista El Guanche en su segunda época.
In this report a recount is made about the life of the palmer José Esteban Guerra Zerpa, which was typographer and founder of the newspaper Diario de Avisos in its native island, where he also incorporated to the masonry; also, their evolution is analyzed toward nationalist positions and independents starting from its relationship in Venezuela with Secundino Delgado, being determined its performance in El Guanche magazine from Caracas. Lastly their presence settles down there in Cuba and its protagonism in the foundation of the Natioalist Canary Party and of El Guanche magazine in its second time.
