Este artículo presenta algunas ideas sobre la evolución de la mentalidad artística canaria a finales del siglo XVIII gracias a la presencia de franceses en las islas y la manera en que estos pudieron influir en la sociedad canaria para que modificase su gusto artístico, aceptando los nuevos lenguajes artísticos y los temas que por entonces circulaban por Europa y que modificaban el propio sentido del arte, ahora para servir a ideales sociales antes que a los religiosos.
