Los cultivos Americanos en la agricultura de Lanzarote / American crops in then agriculture of Lanzarote

Resumen

Los objetivos de este trabajo de investigación son:poner de manifiesto cómo hay una serie de productosoriginarios de América que se han aclimatado a lascondiciones ambientales del archipiélago. Asimismocómo estos cultivos han tenido una gran importanciaeconómica en la historia de Canarias y, por último,resaltar cuáles son las técnicas y los sistemas decultivos utilizados para su producción. Las fuentes hansido de diversa índole desde los archivos insulares yprovinciales hasta la bibliografía existente sobre elparticular y las entrevistas en profundidad. Endefinitiva son de dos tipos: las impresas como loscensos agrarios, tanto históricos como actuales, lasestadísticas de las cámaras agrarias, los servicios deextensión agraria, las hermandades sindicales delabradores y ganaderos, el Instituto Nacional deMeteorología (INM), el centro de datos del Cabildo deLanzarote y también las noticias, informes y estudioshistóricos sobre los cultivos americanos.

The objectives of this work of investigation are: tomake clear that there are a kind of original goods fromAmerica that have been acclimatized to theenvironmental conditions of the Archipelago. Also thatthis crops have had a great economic significance inthe History of the Canary Islands and, at last, toemphasize which techniques and crop systems are usedfor production. Multiple sources have been used, frominsular and provincial archives to existing bibliographyabout this matter along with in depth interviews. Inshort there are two types: printed ones as agriculturecensus, historic and present, the chamber of agriculturestatistics, agriculture advisory services, trade unionsbrotherhoods of cattle dealers and farmers, theNational Institute of Meteorology, the data centre ofthe Cabildo de Lanzarote and also, reports andhistorical studies about the American crops.
