Resumen

La visita a lugares con componentes de dolor,atrocidades, parte de nuestra memoria o sitios decatástrofes ha pasado a formar parte de la oferta alvisitante en muchos destinos turísticos. Este trabajo secentra en un fenómeno denominado Dark Tourism oturismo oscuro. En él se aborda su significado y campode trabajo, al tiempo que se analiza la problemáticaética que puede despertar su interpretación y gestión. Para Canarias, la incorporación de este tipo de turismo,parte de un turismo cultural, puede abrir una nuevaoferta al visitante, demandante de nuevas experienciasy conocimientos que no siempre encuentra en las islas.En este sentido, la Arqueología del Conflicto sería unaherramienta adecuada para interpretar y poner en usoun patrimonio a veces hiriente pero necesario conocer.

The visit of places that come with a component ofsuffering, atrocities, that are part of our collectivememory or that have known catastrophes, has becomea part of the tourist offer in many tourist destinations. This research is focusing on a phenomenon calledDark Tourism. We will define the phenomenon and itsresearch field, as well as analyse the ethics questionthat the interpretation and management of such touristattractions can trigger. In the case of the Canary Islands, the integration of thistype of tourism, as part of cultural tourism, can createa new offer for the visitor, always in search of newexperiences and knowledge, not always found in thearchipelago. In this way, Conflict Archaeology would be anappropriate tool to explain and make use of a heritagethat is at times painful but necessary to know.
