Resumen

Con motivo de la entrega del expediente administrativodel escudo heráldico de la ciudad de Arucas (queno constaba en el Archivo Municipal), por parte de lafamilia del antiguo concejal Florencio SantanaSánchez, se pretende desvelar el contenido del mismo(1946-1954), así como llevar a cabo la descripción y elanálisis artístico de las cinco propuestas (con 11dibujos originales, 2 de ellos del reconocido artistaSantiago Santana) que fueron solicitadas o encargadas.Hasta el presente estudio se desconocía el devenir ylos entresijos de la historia de la creación del escudo,que tras el análisis del expediente, así como de otrasfuentes (bibliografía, información oral, etc.), sedesprenden algunas anécdotas y situacionesproducidas durante el debate que aconteció a laelección del diseño final, hechos que consideramossugestivos e interesantes y que, no en vano,reproducen el momento en el que aconteció esteproceso, durante la dictadura franquista.
