El debate educativo en Tenerife durante la Segunda República a través de la prensa / The education debate in Tenerife through the press during the Second Republic

Resumen

Este trabajo pretende estudiar el debate educativo enTenerife durante la Segunda República a través de laprensa. El objetivo es identificar los principaleselementos en torno a los que giró el enfrentamientoideológico y caracterizar las posiciones de losparticipantes. Las fuentes fundamentales de lainvestigación son los tres grandes rotativos isleños delmomento: La Gaceta de Tenerife, La Prensa y LaTarde. Se han consultado también otras publicacionescomo Hoy, que desapareció antes de concluir elperiodo estudiado. Los cinco ejes sobre los que severtebra este trabajo son el laicismo, el magisterio, laconstrucción de escuelas, la escuela única y laeducación de las niñas.

This paper aims to study the educational debate inTenerife during the Second Republic through thepress. The aim is to identify the key elements aroundwhich revolved the ideological confrontation andcharacterize the positions of the participants. The basicsources of research are the three main newspapers ofthe island at that age: La Gaceta de Tenerife, LaPrensa and La Tarde. Other newspapers like Hoy,which disappeared before concluding the period, havealso been used. The five issues on which this paper isstructured are laicism, teachers, schools building,unified school and girls’ education.
