Resumen

A partir de los años sesenta, e influida por los aires decambio que provenían del Concilio Vaticano II, laIglesia española inició su propio proceso de transición,alejándose progresivamente del paraguas franquista enel que se había refugiado desde la guerra civil. Sehabía iniciado, pues, un proceso de distanciamientoentre ambos, que si bien no estuvo libre deenfrentamientos internos, fue creciendopaulatinamente a lo largo del último tercio del sigloXX. En este fenómeno, sobre todo las bases católicas,tuvieron un papel muy destacado en la reconstruccióny reorganización de la oposición al régimen. En el casocanario, este proceso coincidió con el resurgimientodel fenómeno nacionalista, en el que si bien loscatólicos no participaron de su aparición, sí quejugaron un papel importante en su desarrollo posterior.Abordar la relación entre la Iglesia católica y el avancedel nacionalismo canario de segunda ola durante esteperíodo es el objetivo principal de esta comunicación.

Since the sixties, the Spanish church began its owntransition process. Under the influence of changewinds of the II Vatican Council, Spanish church wasprogressively moving away from the francoismumbrella in which it had taken refuge since theSpanish Civil War. It had started a distancing processbetween them, although it was not free from internalstrife, it was growing gradually in the course of the lastthird of the twentieth century. In this process,especially parochial groups had an outstanding role inthe reconstruction and reorganization of the regimeopposition. In the Canary Islands, this processcoincided with a resurgence of the nationalistphenomenon, in which Catholics did not participate inits origin, but they played an important function in itssubsequent development. The main objective of thiscommunication is to tackle the relation betweenCatholic church and the advance of the Canariannationalism of second wave during this time.
