Los esclavos presentes en la ciudad de Las Palmas, se incorporan a la sociedad a partir de la conclusión de la conquista de la isla a fines del siglo XV, pero será a partir de la centuria décimo sexta cuando alcancen su apogeo, al convertirse la ciudad en uno de los mercados de esclavos más importantes del Atlántico. Su número, obtenido a través de los libros sacramentales y de los contratos de compra-venta así lo demuestra.

The slaves living in the city of Las Palmas join the society when the conquest of the island finishes at the end of the 15th century, but it will be in the 16th century when they reach their peak, by becoming the city one of the most important slaves markets in the Atlantic.
