Problemas estructurales en las cubiertas de la Catedral de La Laguna llevaron a su cierre en 2002. Entre 2009 y 2013 las mismas fueron retiradas y sustituidas por otras de estructura de fibra de vidrio, lo que llevó a una larga reforma del inmueble. Durante esta la utilización de la luz natural en el interior fue una constante, tanto por su carácter simbólico como por su funcionalidad, gracias a estas bóvedas. Al mismo tiempo se llevaron a cabo estudios y reuniones técnicas encaminadas a salvaguardar de la mejor manera posible las vidrieras centenarias con la que cuenta el edificio, adoptando medidas que las protegiesen y realzasen como uno de los importantes bienes muebles de esta catedral.
La Laguna´s Cathedral was closed for structural problems in the cover of the roof in 2002. Between 2009 and 2013, that cover were withdrawn and replaced with others of structure of glass fiber; this supposed a long reform of the building. Those vaults offered the utilization of the natural light constantly like symbolic and functional character during the work. Parallel studies were done and celebrated technical meetings to safeguard the century stained glass of the building. They were adopted measures that the same ones were protecting and heightening for its importance inside the cathedral.
