En el momento en el que surge el primer movimiento gremial de la profesión periodística en España, y con ello las primeras Asociaciones de la Prensa, en últimos años del siglo XIX y primeros del XX, de forma paralela a una significativa transformación del periodismo español, en Canarias también aparecerán las primeras Asociaciones de la Prensa, la de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria en 1898 y la de Santa Cruz de Tenerife en 1902, al tiempo que el periodismo isleño vivirá una etapa de progreso y esplendor.
In the moment in which there arises the first trade-union movement of the journalistic profession in Spain, and with it the first Associations of the Press, in the last years of the 19th century and first of the XXth, of form parallel to a significant transformation of the Spanish journalism, in Canaries also the first Associations of the Press will appear, that of Las Palmas of Great Canary in 1898 and that of Santa Cruz de Tenerife in 1902, at the time that the island journalism will live through a stage of progress and brilliance.
