Esta comunicación analiza la historia del municipio cubano de Cabaiguán, vinculada a la presencia de emigrantes de las Islas Canarias, fundamentalmente en las tres primeras décadas del siglo XX, atraídos por la fertilidad de sus tierras para el cultivo del tabaco. Particulariza en las diferentes etapas, haciendo énfasis en la huella social que puede apreciarse en nuestros tiempos, marcada por la herencia de tradiciones y costumbres que son parte del sentimiento de canariedad en Cuba.
This communication examines the history of Cabaiguán´s municipality of Cuban, linked to emigrants's presence of Canary Islands, fundamentally in the three first decades of the XX century, attracted for the fertility of his lands for the cultivation of tobacco. Particularize in different stages, stressing the trace cultural member that can be appreciated in our times, marked for the inheritance of traditions and way of life that they are part of canariedad's sentiment in Cuba.
