Del Caribe inglés a la Amazonia brasileña: los barbadianos en Porto Velho / Form the English Caribbean to the Barzilian Amazon: the barbadians in Porto Velho

Resumen

Este artículo analiza la inmigración de negras y negros barbadianos para Porto Velho en principios del siglo XX. Dentro del asunto, se tratará el surgimiento de la ciudad y su vínculo con la construcción del ferrocarril Madeira-Mamoré y con barbadianos. Además, se aborda las condiciones que propiciaron la entrada de estos inmigrantes, en un contexto de desarrollo de políticas hostiles hacia personas negras.

This article analyzes the immigration of black people from Barbados to Porto Velho in the early twentieth century. Inside the issue, it been studied the emergence of the city and how it connects to the construction of the Madeira - Mamore railway and the Barbadian migration. Moreover, it points out the conditions that allowed the pass of these migrants in a context of the political discrimination against black people.
