Resumen

En este estudio, son analizadas, a través de una antología de obras de arte, las relaciones mantenidas entre los antiguos Países Bajos y las islas Canarias durante el siglo XVI que devienen, en general, del comercio del azúcar. Al tiempo, se ofrecen nuevas lecturas de algunas de estas obras, así como de sus cronologías y autorías. Además, se hace referencia explícita al colegio Van Dale, en Lovaina, como un fenómeno singular de las correlaciones entre ambos territorios.

In this study, an anthology of works of art analyzed, the relations maintained between the Low Countries and the Canary Islands during the 16th century, which are generally related to the sugar trade. At the time, new readings are offered of some of these works, as well as of their chronologies and authorships. In addition, the college Van Dale in Leuven is explicitly referred to as a singular phenomenon of the correlations between the two territories.
