Resumen

El presente trabajo tiene por finalidad acercarnos al estudio de las líneas navieras británicas en los puertos isleños desde la segunda mitad del siglo XIX y los primeros años del XX, es decir, en la Edad de Oro del turismo insular, un aspecto histórico escasamente tratado. Los puertos de Santa Cruz de Tenerife y Las Palmas de Gran Canaria fueron testigos de la llegada de los barcos de las principales líneas navieras europeas, especialmente británicas. / The purpose of this paper is to get closer to the study of the British shipping lines in the island ports since the second half of the 19^thcentury and the first years of the 20^th, that is, in the Golden Age of island tourism, a scarcely treated historical aspect. The ports of Santa Cruz of Tenerife and Las Palmas of Gran Canaria witnessed the arrival of the main European shipping lines’ ships, especially British ones.
