Resumen

Desde la perspectiva lingüística de la necesidad humana de nombrar los espacios del territorio para, entre otras razones, distinguirlos de otros, presentamos un estudio desde un punto de vista lingüístico de la formación de las palabras que forman parte de los topónimos de la isla de La Gomera con resultados cuantitativos y, por ello, contrastivos no solo de unos procedimientos de creación toponímica, sino del triunfo también de unos signos frente a otros con similares funciones lingüísticas. / From the linguistic perspective of the human necessity ofname the territory spaces for, among other reasons, distinguish them from others, we present a study from a linguistic point of view of the formation of the words that are part of the place names of the island of La Gomera with quantitative results and, therefore, contrastive not only of procedures of toponymy creation, but also of the triumph of some signs over others with similar linguistic functions.
