El presente artículo es una revisión historiográfica en torno a las principales propuestas teóricas relativas a la independencia de Venezuela, así como su posible relación desde el punto de vista de la Historia Atlántica. La idea es presentar un estado de la cuestión y extraer del mismo algunas sendas interpretativas para futuros desarrollos.

This article is a revision of the history of the main theoretical proposals for the independence of Venezuela, together with the possible relationship with the Atlantic History focus. The idea is to present the State of the Art on the question and to extract some interpretative clues for future developments.
