Resumen

Las relaciones de los hispano-canarios con los bereberes y los árabes del norte de África han sido siempre más o menos intensas y diversas: en primer lugar, con los bereberes que ocupaban las islas al tiempo de la conquista y colonización europeas, a lo largo de los siglos XV y XVI; en segundo lugar, con los cautivos árabes y bereberes que fueron traídos de África para repoblar las islas de Fuerteventura y Lanzarote, por la misma época, aproximadamente; y, en tercer lugar, con los saharauis de la llamada provincia española del Sáhara Occidental, durante el siglo XX, en particular. Estudiar las consecuencias que estas relaciones humanas han tenido para el español que se habla en las Islas Canarias es el propósito del presente trabajo de investigación. / The relationships of the hispanic Canaries with the Berbers and the Arabs from North Africa have always been intense and diverse: initially, with the Berbers that occupied the Canary Islands at the time of de European conquest and colonization, throughout 15th and 16th centuries; secondly, at approximately the same time, with the captive Arabs and Berbers that were brought from Africa to repopulate the eastern Islands of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote; and thirdly, with the Sahrawi people from the so-called Spanish Province of the Western Sahara, during the 20th century. The aim of this paper is studying the consequences that these human relations have had for the Spanish spoken in the Canary Islands.
