Se aborda en este artículo la fortuna editorial del bosquejo en prosa “El canario y el grajo” (1792) de Tomás de Iriarte, las circunstancias que le motivaron a escribir esa fábula y la metrificación en octavas reales pergeñada por Jacobo Soriano y Ximénez, «afecto a don Tomás» y uno de sus corresponsales. Se publica en apéndice la puesta en verso del referido apólogo y la fábula “El burro y el jilguero”, original también del mismo Soriano./This paper deals with the publishing fortune of the prose sketch “The Canary and the Rook” (1792) by Tomás de Iriarte, the circumstances that motivated him to write this fable, and a metrification in ottava rima by Jacobo Soriano y Ximénez, a “don Tomás’ devotee” and one of his literary correspondents. The staging in verse of the mentioned apologue and fable “The Donkey and the Goldfinch”, also original by Soriano himself, are edited in an appendix.
