Resumen

Exposición de los antecedentes y puesta en marcha de las Cortes de Cádiz que culminaría con la aprobación de la Constitución de 1812. En su elaboración se apostó por mantener la tradición jurídica española pese al ambiente revolucionario de la época. Las Cortes de Cádiz supusieron importantes reformas legislativas encaminadas a desmontar el armazón jurídico del Antiguo Régimen, siendo los más importantes: la libertad de imprenta, abolición de la Inquisición, de la tortura judicial y de los privilegios nobiliarios. Asímismo, se destaca el principal papel de Jovellanos en este proceso.

Exhibition of the history and the start of the Royal Court of Cádiz that would end with the passing of the constitution in 1812. In its making, a commitment was pledged to maintain the Spanish legal tradition in spite of the revolutionary atmosphere at the time. The Royal Court of Cádiz supposed important legislative reforms designed to take down the legal body of Antiguo Régimen, the following being the most important: the freedom of printing, abolishment of the Inquisition, of the legal torture and of the noble privileges. In the same way, the leading role of Jovellanos stands out in this process.
