Los regidores diputados cadañeros del Cabildo municipal de Fuerteventura entre 1605 y 1669 / The aldermen members of the City Council of Fuerteventura between 1605 and 1669
Resumen
El Cabildo municipal de Fuerteventura hasta el siglo XVII contó con dos regidores diputados cadañeros, elegidos el veintiuno de enero en la ermita de santa Inés. Fueron los únicos oficios cabildantes designados sin intervención directa del señor de la isla. En este artículo se estudia la institución de los regidores diputados cadañeros del Cabildo majorero en el siglo XVII, especialmente su sistema de provisión, competencias y extracción social. Eran cargos elegidos por el Cabildo, no por los vecinos, como se ha pensado hasta el momento, y desempeñaban un papel relevante en la institución, con funciones específicas vinculadas al abasto de la población y al control del mercado local.
The Council of Fuerteventura, until the seventeenth century, had two annual deputy councilors elected on January 21 in the chapel of St. Agnes. They were the only councilors appointed offices without direct intervention of the lord of the island. In this paper we study the institution of the Fuerteventura Council and its members in the seventeenth century, especially its supply of provisions, skills and social structure. Charges were elected by the council, not the neighbors as thought until recently, and played an important role in the institution with specific functions related to meeting the needs of the population, and local market control.
