En este trabajo se estudian varios encargos que el clérigo Cándido Rodríguez Suárez realizó al imaginero Fernando Estévez, destacando entre ellos esculturas que reciben culto en la parroquia matriz de La Laguna. Los documentos investigados permiten reconstruir la biografía del sacerdote y comitente, a la vez que replantear el contexto que dio sentido a dichas efigies durante el siglo XIX, sus primeras circunstancias cultuales, la solvencia del acabado que manifiestan y su datación en algunos casos.
This research studies several commissions that the priest Cándido Rodríguez Suárez made to the sculptor Fernando Estévez, focusing on sculptures which were objects of religious devotion in the main parish church of La Laguna. The studied documents reconstruct the biography of the priest or patron and also redefine the context which gave meaning to these works during the XIX century, their primary use as objects of devotion, the final importance they express and their dating in some cases.
