Resumen

Galdós escribió la historia de sus tiempos. Utilizó esa escritura para novelarla o para presentarla con formas de expresión literaria. El recurso a la historia no fue una mera excusa. Su quehacer para escudriñar el curso de la realidad social se sirvió de métodos, herramientas y de conceptos teóricos que no eran frecuentes en quienes escribían la historia española en aquellos tiempos. Esta manera de concebir la historiografía nos revela por otro lado el profundo conocimiento que tenía el escritor canario de las claves principales en las que se desenvolvía la política de su tiempo. En este trabajo se ejemplifica mediante el análisis de algunos momentos de las relaciones que mantuvo con Fernando León y Castillo, destacado político y figura notable en los Gobiernos y en la política exterior española durante la Restauración. / Galdós wrote the history of his time. He used his writting to novel or to introduce it with forms of literary expression. The resource to history was not a mere excuse. His work for analyzing the course of social reality served of methods, tools and theoretical concepts which were not frequently observed in those who used to wrote the Spanish history in those times. That way of conceiving historiography reveals on the other hand the deep knowledge the Canary writer had on the main keys which the policy of his time was developed. In this work it is exeplified by the analysis of some moments of the relations he kept with Fernando León y Castillo, a prominent politician and notable figure in the governments and in the foreign Spanish policy during the Restoration.
