EL MONUMENTO EN EL DIBUJO O LA FIGURA DE GALDÓS EN NOVELA GRÁFICA / THE MONUMENT IN DRAWING: THE FIGURE OF GALDÓS IN GRAPHIC NOVELS

Resumen

Se analiza aquí cómo el cómic participa del proyecto de visualizar la obra y persona de Galdós, reflejando la progresiva introducción de lo biográfico como elemento temático. Concebidos en 2020, en la estela de otros títulos como Nela (2013) y 1892 (2018), Galdós, un escritor en Madrid y Galdós y a miseria presentan relatos protagonizados por el escritor, que toman como punto de partida el motivo histórico de la inauguración de la primera estatua en su honor. La coincidencia de eje narrativo invita a interpretar la escenificación del homenaje como recurso destinado bien a estabilizar el estatus patrimonial de la figura de forma acrítica, bien a cuestionar dicho ejercicio conmemorativo con una visión alternativa de la vigencia de la obra galdosiana. Ese análisis se sirve de una bibliografía teórica sobre la monumentalidad, y de otra que se fija en los recursos formales del género del cómic como vehículo estético de discurso político. / This paper analyzes the contribution of comics to the project of visualizing the works and persona of Galdós, through the use of his biography as a thematic element. It focuses on two works created in 2020, and in the wake of other titles such as Nela (2013) and 1892 (2018) that both feature the author as a protagonist and begin with the unveiling of the first statue dedicated to him in 1919: Galdós, un escritor en Madrid and Galdós y a miseria. The coincidence in the starting points of these books invites the recreation of the monumental tribute to be interpreted as a device that either consolidates uncritically Galdós’s heritage status or contests the commemorative act with an alternative view of his relevance. The analysis is informed by theorizations of monumentality, and the formal aspects of the comic book genre as an aesthetic vehicle for political discourse.
