EL ABUELO DE GALDÓS AL CINE MEXICANO: DEL EXILIO ESPAÑOL AL ESPIONAJE NAZI / THE GRANDFATHER OF GALDÓS TO THE MEXICAN CINEMA: FROM SPANISH EXILE TO NAZI ESPIONAGE

Resumen

El gusto por Galdós ha llevado a guionistas mexica-nos y extranjeros a la adaptación cinematográfica de varias de sus obras literarias. El cine mexicano ex-trajo de aquellas, argumentos y temas que se ajusta-ron a la idiosincrasia del momento. Resultando en 1943 la película Adulterio, basada en la novela El abuelo, dirigida por José Díaz Morales, director es-pañol exiliado. Se trata de su primer acercamiento a la obra galdosiana, trasladando la acción de la novela a los primeros años del México del siglo XX.
En el presente trabajo interesa el contexto cinemato-gráfico en que fue producido el film y se compara con la novela. Importan dos hechos históricos: La in-fluencia de los exiliados españoles en la Época de Oro del cine mexicano y la participación de la prota-gonista Hilda Krüger, espía nazi en México. Final-mente, comprobar la mexicanización de Galdós en el film.  / The taste for Galdós has led Mexican and foreign scriptwriters to the cinematographic adaptation of sev-eral of his literary works. The Mexican cinema ex-tracted from them, plots and themes that were adjusted to the idiosyncrasy of the moment. The result was the 1943 film Adultery, based on the novel The Grandfather, directed by José Díaz Morales, an exiled Spanish director. It was his first approach to Galdós' work, transferring the action of the novel to the first years of Mexico in the 20th century.
In the present work we are interested in the cinemato-graphic context in which the film was produced and we compare it with the novel. Two historical facts are important: the influence of Spanish exiles in the Golden Age of Mexican cinema and the participation of the protagonist Hilda Krüger, a Nazi spy in Mexico. Fi-nally, to verify the Mexicanization of Galdós in the film.
