El 4 de enero de 1931 se inauguró en Las Palmas el monumento a Galdós que Victorio Macho había construido para su ubicación en el martillo del Muelle de San Telmo. La ciudad natal del escritor organizó actividades diversas para celebrarlo. Figuró entre ellas la iniciativa del periódico La Voz Obrera, que consiguió reunir la opinión crítica sobre Galdós de un número importante de intelectuales locales y foráneos en un número especial y preparó para la ocasión un número especial dedicado al escritor y a su obra en el que logró reunir la opinión crítica de un número importante de intelectuales locales y foráneos. Nuestro trabajo consistirá en acercar al lector a la publicación, mediante el vaciado crítico de ella. / On January 4, 1931 was inaugurated in Las Palmas the monument to Galdós that Victorio Macho had built for its location in the Muelle de San Telmo.
