Resumen

El artículo se propone analizar dos personajes galdosianos, Felipe Centeno y Moreno Rubio, que, de manera muy diferente, nos permiten reflexionar sobre la figura del médico y la capacidad de Galdós para crear un universo narrativo dinámico y, al mismo tiempo, perfectamente coherente. El uso de la técnica del retorno de los personajes, una herramienta narrativa fundamental para entender el realismo galdosiano, permite al escritor desarrollar los perfiles de estos personajes y, al mismo tiempo, entrelazar sus historias en la segunda parte del Doctor Centeno, una obra que parece referirse al tema de la medicina ya desde su título. / This article analyses two Galdosian characters, Felipe Centeno and Moreno Rubio, who, in quite different ways, allow us to reflect on the figure of the doctor and Galdós's ability to create a narrative universe that is dynamic and, at the same time, perfectly coherent. The use of the technique of the return of the characters, a fundamental narrative tool for understanding Galdós's realism, enables the writer to develop the profiles of these characters and, at the same time, to interweave their stories in the second part of El doctor Centeno, a novel which seems to refer to the question of medicine from its very title.
