CO-TEXTO Y CONTEXTO EDITORIAL EN TRAFALGAR (A PARTIR DEL ESTUDIO DE LAS MÁS DE 339 CUARTILLAS DEL MANUSCRITO) / CO-TEXT AND EDITORIAL CONTEXT IN TRAFALGAR (FROM THE STUDY OF THE MORE THAN 339 SHEETS OF THE MANUSCRIPT)

Resumen

Bajo el líquido y prolijo semantismo de este texto, reducida a guarismos traslúcidos la grama de su soporte gráfico, aflora desde las ‘placentas’ cotex-tuales del manuscrito y su primera edición, gran cantidad de información, soterrada en la espesura semántica del texto. La radiografía numérica de las líneas manuscritas, en paralelo con las de su primera edición, funciona como una especie de “digitalización” del soporte, precisa y previa a la rutina de la candorosa analogía entre “cerebro-texto”. Propongo dos novedades afloradas. Una es el emparejamiento de contenido que se impone Galdós ajustando la extensión de sus capítulos a las 16 páginas de los sucesivos pliegos. Esto le obliga a artificiosos “rellenos” en los sucesivos desajustes, con serio daño para la coherencia y cohesión de la estructura. La otra es la aparición, además, en el primero de estos rellenos, de un testimonio explícito, más antiguo y aun no detectado, de su maduración del proyecto narrativo global de los Episodios Nacionales a mediados de enero de 1873. / Under the liquid and prolix semantism of this text, reduced the ‘grass’ of its graphic support to translucent numbers, a great amount of information emerges from the cotextual 'placentas' of the manuscript and its first edition, still buried under the semantic text thickness. The numerical X-ray of the manuscript lines, in parallel with those of the first edition, functions as ‘digital mode’ on the support, precise and prior to the routine of the candid "brain-text" analogy. I propose two novelties that have come to the surface. One is the pairing of content that Galdós imposes on himself by adjusting the length of his chapters to the 16 pages of the successive printings booklets. This obliges him to use contrived ‘fillers’ in the successive mismatches, with serious damage to the structure coherence and cohesion. The other is the appearance in the first ‘filler’, an explicit testimony, older and not yet detected, of his maturing process of the overall Episodios Nacionales narrative project towards mid-January 1873.
