La historiografía nos ofrece escasas fuentes primarias de la relación entre Francisco de Paula Canalejas y Benito Pérez Galdós. Sin embargo, el estudio de las fuentes secundarias unido a una lectura hermenéutica del pensamiento de Canalejas permite establecer algunas claves de diálogo y elementos de la influencia del pensador lucentino en el novelista canario. Más allá de la humildad y la timidez que caracterizó a ambos personajes, la interpretación contextual y de fuentes complementarias muestran huellas de esta impronta personal y filosófica expresada en la estética krausista, la prensa de la época y las referencias explícitas en los Episodios Nacionales. / Historiography offers us scarce primary sources about the relationship between Francisco de Paula Canalejas and Benito Pérez Galdós. However, the study of secondary sources connected to an hermeneutic reading of Canalejas’ thinking makes it possible to establish some keys of dialogue and a number of elements of influence of the thinker from Lucena on the Canarian writer. Beyond the humility and shyness that characterized both personalities, the contextual interpretation and complementaries sources show traces of personal and philosophical marks reflected in the Krausist estethic, in the newspapers of that period and in the explicit references in the Episodios Nacionales.
