A modo de celebración del centenario de esta comedia galdosiana, podemos retomar el tema de ‘mujer nueva’ en Galdós. Este tema ha sido tratado por el autor en todos los géneros: novela, novela dialogada, teatro, cuento y en los registros de drama, comedia o tragicomedia.
Para ello me propongo tres tareas. En primer lugar, analizar cómo varía el significado del tema de ‘la mujer nueva’ según sea tratado en estos distintos géneros y registros.
A continuación pondré en relación estos dos modos fundamentales, el dramático y el humorístico con los conceptos estéticos de lo bello y lo sublime.
Finalmente intentaré valorar la contribución del genio galdosiano al tema de la feminidad en general.
As a kind of celebration of the centenary of this Galdós’ comedy, we may reconsider the subject of ‘the new woman’ in Galdós. This subject has been treated by the author in all genres: novel, dialogued novel, theatre, tale and in the registers of drama, comedy or tragicomedy.
So I propose to work on three tasks: firstly, analyse how it changes the meaning of ‘the new woman’ subject depending on how it is treated in these different genres and registers.
Secondly, I will relate these two basic modes, the dramatic and the humoristic, to the esthetic concepts of the beautiful and the sublime.
Finally, I shall value the contribution of Galdós’ genious to the subject of the feminity in general.
