En la historia de la literatura de viajes del siglo xix, Galdós ocupa un lugar particular: sus textos son todavía muy poco conocidos y faltan ensayos que ofrezcan una visión global. Su estudio permitiría comprobar la gran cantidad de relatos que Galdós escribió durante su vida, su variedad, su evolución, su interés para conocer la personalidad del autor y su importancia dentro de la literatura de viajes hispánica. Este trabajo pretende avanzar en esa investigación del modo siguiente: destaca el interés de los textos galdosianos, los distribuye en cuatro grandes etapas y señala elementos propios de cada una para marcar sus rasgos específicos y la evolución del relato viático en el escritor canario. Podremos así mostrar que Galdós llegó a tener su personal poética del relato de viaje en cuanto a asuntos, narración, estilo, etc.
In the history of travel literature of nineteenth century, Galdós holds a particular place: his texts are still largely unknown and there is a lack of monographic essays. The study of these writings would check the many travel texts that Galdós wrote during his life, their variety, evolution, interest in knowing the personality of this autor and his importance within hispanic travel literature. This paper intends to make progress in this way: it highlights the interest of galdosian texts, divided into four stages, and it states the elements of each to mark their specific characteristics and the evolution of the travel literature in the works of the canary writer. We can also show that Galdós had his personal poetry of the travel narrative on issues, narration, style, etc.
