El reconocimiento de Sergio Pitol por la obra de Galdós lo lleva a descubrir que la realidad y el delirio, lo trágico y lo irónico se complementan. Ambos escritores intentan representar la realidad, exhiben la descomposición matrimonial y conyugal. Tanto la sociedad española descrita por Galdós como la mexicana de Pitol se caracterizan por ser conservadoras y apegadas a cubrir las apariencias. Uno de los fundamentos de la escritura galdosiana es mostrar a los personajes femeninos muy cerca del modelo social de la época, utilizando como recursos narrativos la parodia y la ironía, mismos recursos se observan en el escritor mexicano contemporáneo Sergio Pitol. La comunicación tiene como finalidad comparar la parodia del matrimonio y la vida conyugal en La de Bringas (1884) de Galdós y La vida conyugal (1990) de Sergio Pitol. Finalmente, comprobar la mexicanización de las fórmulas galdosianas en la narrativa de Pitol.
Sergio Pitol’s acknowledgement of Galdós's work takes him to discover that reality and delirium, tragedy and irony complement each other. Both writers attempt to represent reality; they expose the failure of marriage and conjugal life. Galdós's Spanish society, like the mexican society described by Pitol, are characterized for their conservatism and their efforts to keep up appearances. An essential element of galdosian writing is to show how female characters resemble the social model of the epoch, using narrative devices like parody and irony. The same are observed by the contemporary Mexican writer Sergio Pitol. The purpose here is to compare the parody of marriage and conjugal life in La de Bringas (1884) by Galdós and La vida conyugal (1990) by Sergio Pitol to discover how the galdosian writing process enters the Mexican narrative of Pitol
