Una lectura reflexiva de Tormento de Galdós viene a demostrar cómo la novela logra alcanzar gran densidad y riqueza connotativa. Este trabajo analiza cómo tales características se logran a través de manejar y barajar dos estados de sentimientos: el psicológico y el físico, y dos actitudes morales: el pragmatismo y el idealismo. O, dicho en palabras de Amparo, la protagonista, la «conciencia» y la «conveniencia».
A thoughtful reading of Tormento, the novel of Galdós, comes to demonstrate how the novel manages to achieve a high density and connotative wealth. This work analyzes how these characteristics are achieved through handling and shuffling two states of feelings: the psychological and the physical, and two moral attitudes: pragmatism and idealism. In Amparo -the protagonist- words: the «conscience» and the «convenience».
